A FORMER cleaner who aimed a camera at a woman in the toilets at Melbourne law firm Freehills faces a possible jail sentence. Rodrigo Garcia, 27, entered a cubicle in the Collins Street building after placing a cleaning sign outside the male toilets.

Leading Senior Constable Stuart Hastings yesterday told Melbourne Magistrates Court that about 20 minutes after Garcia closed the door at 6.30pm on November 18, 2008, a female entered the adjacent cubicle.

Leading Senior Constable Hastings, prosecuting, said Garcia then put the camera on top of the wall separating the cubicles and aimed it towards her. The woman yelled and left the toilet… Garcia admitted placing the camera over the cubicle, but did not know if he took a photo and had left the camera in rubbish and did not retrieve it.

Garcia… admitted to police his conduct with the camera was ”reprehensible” … magistrate Peter Couzens commented that the … offence’s aggravating features included breach of trust and violating the ”very private space of the victim”.

Private space indeed! The butt cheek of Rodrigo!
