Major Redundancies @ IP Specialist Law Firm Davies Collinson Cave

Posted by The Spy | Posted in Davies Collison Cave, Firm Gossip | Posted on 18-03-2010

Thanks very much to the anonymous spy who sent us the following comments regarding a firm about which we have reported little:

FYI - I’m no Davies Collison Cave insider but I’ve now heard from 6 different people that DCC made 25 people redundant last week. That’s roughly 10% of the firm’s entire workforce! The redundancies were reputedly across all areas of the firm and all offices. Essentially DCC and Sprusons are the two specialist IP firms who rely most heavily on the local filings of international patents and TM’s to fill their coffers. These areas dried up come the GFC and have yet to recover so I guess DCC finally decided to pull the pin on a quarter century of unsuspecting sods. So much for economic recovery….

On Davies’ internet recruitment page, the following comments are made:

…We pride ourselves on the talent of our people who provide innovative, commercially focused solutions.

Very regrettably, if the rumour reported above is true, it seems that the Davies partnership lacked the “innovation” upon which it prides itself to avoid wholesale redundancies.

Are further cuts being made in your office? What have your heard about 2010 sackings?
