Welcome to the world of Blake Dawson, the international homosexual pornstar.
Blake Dawson’s foray into the adult film industry commenced with a “support role” in the 1982 blue movie The Diary. The film was apparently a limited box office success – IMDB is still yet to receive a single rating, much less a review. However, a few of the IMDB “plot keywords” give the narrative away (PLOT SPOILER ALERT!):
- Hardcore
- Gay Interest
- Homosexual
The Diary was directed by Toby Ross and came from the same production house behind such classics as Boys of the Slums, The Last Surfer and I Live For Sex – the aptly titled Hornbill Films.
Blake Dawson temporarily stepped back from life in porn after The Diary, spending 1983 and 1984 in the porn-industry wilderness. Heck, porn might have just been the building blocks for a career in acting – Blake probably saw a fat paycheck and thought “bang on” (pun intended). Ironically, at around the same time, groups of buggers lawyers in law firms Blake & Riggall and Dawson Waldron were sizing each other up, expressing man-love, and considering a union of a different kind – a law-firm merger. Hubba hubba!
Negotiations between Blake & Rigall and Dawson Waldron continued … just as Blake Dawson negotiated with Laguna Pacific Film Studios to determine the amount of money that would lure him out of retirement and back into the prying lense of pornography.
It couldn’t have been much money that coaxed Blake Dawson back into porn: his second homoerotic feature film Spring Semester had an estimated budget of $10,000. But it might not just have been about the money; Spring Semester appears to have had a more developed plot-line and narrative – some of its “plot keywords” include:
- College
- Motorcycles
- Road Trip
- Gay
Unlike Blake Dawson’s first porn film The Diary, IMDB contains a summary of the Spring Semester storyline. The summary of the film tends to reinforce the idea that it provided Blake Dawson with a better opportunity than his first feature to explore his homosexual porn acting potential:
A friend receives a letter from his college buddy, detailing his homosexual adventures on campus, due to the Spring weather. This gets the friend (& his friend) worked up. So he rides his motorcycle to visit the friend, where he makes out with his friend and the roommate.
But with two feature porn films under his err … belt, Blake Dawson again retreated into the pornographic ether:
- 1986 passed by with no recorded Blake Dawson porn productions;
- 1987 passed by with no recorded Blake Dawson porn productions.
As Blake Dawson meandered through these years, estranged from the industry that had given him his start in a professional industry, professionals at Blake & Riggall and Dawson Waldron continued negotiations on major Australian law-firm intercourse. Highly private meetings occurred. Men from all over the nation converged. There was back-slapping, laughs, and possibly sleaze.
No one can truly know what happened next. But something, or someone, played a starring role in a production that would lead to the creation of Australia’s sixth largest law firm by revenue. History does show that Blake Dawson, the international homosexual porn actor, had developed a pattern of involvement in a major production once every three years:
- 1982 – The Diary;
- 1985 – Spring Semester…
1988… Blake Dawson Waldron?
Did Blake Dawson, fabled homoerotic icon of the 80s, fly Down Under in 1988 to champion the creation of a law firm that would forever call to mind his famous body of work? Of this, we’re not sure, but one thing is certain – Blake & Riggall and Dawson Waldron merged in 1988. The firm was named Blake Dawson Waldron and later had its name shortened to none other than Blake Dawson.
We wish Blake Dawson – the law firm – the best of luck as it embarks on a campaign to lure another international suitor. If that suitor is Herbert Smith, we suggest that both firms undertake a Google search of the name “Blake Smith“. Who would have thought … he’s another homosexual porn star!

Blake Dawson shares a name with a gay porn actor? Maybe a throwaway line in another post if there’s some relevant joke to make but not worthy of a whole post.
it’s incredible that Blakes chose to shorten its name just a few years ago. A simple google search would have revealed the shady past of the firm’s namesake. Due diligence, anyone?
I hear BlakeDawson employs quite a few fun boys too…
@Riggall
The law firm or the retired actor?
FS, you mention that Blake Dawson [the law firm] is considering retiring its famous name because its partnership wants more money, but given that there was alot of money in adult film industry in the 80s, are you able to explain why Blake Dawson [the porn actor] hung up his bunghole?
Between the QUOTALS ridiculousness and this post it’s become quite clear that the legal industry in Australia is far too boring to sustain a daily blog.
They would have shortened to just “Blakes”, but a Canadian law firm already had the http://www.blakes.com domain. There is no chance they wouldn’t have googled the new name and found out about the actor, but I guess they (mistakenly) thought people would be capable of maturity.
I am offended to see such non-legal flippancy on this otherwise 100% serious gossip site. How dare someone waste MINUTES of their time and SECONDS of mine by writing HUMOUR on the very site which THEY THEMSELVES CREATED!? I must comment immediately, lest more of my precious legal gossip reading time be wasted.
