Friday Night Sympathy Post: Still Stuck at Work?

Someone not being invited yesterday. pricks.
It looks like the weekend can’t come soon enough for some.  We received this tip recently (time-delayed to preserve anonymity) from a disappointed Blake Dawson spy.  Seems like hard work doesn’t get its just desserts anymore, or any dessert for that matter:

Blake Dawson – just another case of discrimination in paradise.

Working for weeks and weeks on litigation until late at night and under huge time pressure? Check.

It’s 8:30pm on a Friday night and I just watched the partner I work for walk out of the building with a junior male colleague to take the client out to dinner. Did I want to go? Probably not. But then I wasn’t invited so it doesn’t really matter what I want.

Unbelievable, and it’s definitely not the first time it’s happened!

From female senior associate.

To all those wondering why women are less represented at the upper echelons of most professional services partnerships, this makes for a sobering read.  The solution is far from clear, but to the anonymous tipster: thanks for writing in – the more stories like this we can publish, the more people will become conscious of how prevalent these stupid (and sometimes unintentional) workplace exclusions are.  As for tonight?  We’d suggest it’s time to go home, put your feet up and leave that next witness statement til Monday morning.

Have a good weekend everyone.  We’ll be back with more scandalous gossip next week.
