Get a cup of coffee, brush past a reprehensible colleague, listen to the ranting partners talk of their European jaunts and get angry.
Then, tell us about it!
We’re back. We’re not happy to be back at work and we’re looking forward to doing what little we can to brighten your miserable corporate lives.
But of course, we need your help. So drop us a line, anonymously if you so choose.
Some excellent gossip has filtered through over the break which we will post over the course of this week. Please stay tuned.

More seriously – before the current depression (not recession!), people spoke about work-life balance. Today, less people are talking about it, focusing more intently on keeping their job. In my own experience, there is no such thing as balance. So wake up!
At the moment I have sufficient balance to keep me going. I have a young family and enjoy my daily work. As my realisation rate is over 90% and my party-party assessment in excess of 80%, the partners don’t care what I do as long as I am profitable, ie, max about $400,000 to $500,000 in collections per year, they really don’t care.
Have fun and if possible try to have fun at work. Be committed and finish important tasks before you leave work even if you work into the evening. Lawyers with young children should in my opinion be entitled to leave work when they have too without penalty. What are your tactics to keep sanity and balance and joy in your life in this environment?
