The Courier-Mail today claimed that a lawyer for the Australian Crime Commission assisted her boyfriend, a defence
The Courier-Mail has seen notes from Australian Crime Commission legal officer Maria Zappala helping barrister Salvatore “Sam” Di Carlo defend a drug trafficker netted in a joint ACC operation. The notes refer to evidence against Tony Lalli-Cafini, who was part of a syndicate caught red-handed cooking more than $1 million worth of methylamphetamine near Brisbane in 2004. The Courier-Mail has seen two emails from Ms Zappala sent in August 2007 advising Mr Di Carlo on the 38-page Schedule of Facts prepared by the prosecution into Lalli-Cafini. The Courier-Mail also has seen the document on which Ms Zappala makes notes on 34 of the 38 pages.
