In contrast to a plurality of domestic and foreign law firms that have quietly laid off employees, Blake Dawson has t

aken the unprecedented step today of revealing in a brief media release that up to 100 staff will be sacked as part of a firm-wide employment review in response to the global financial crisis.

Any redundancies announced under the review will build on the numerous sackings already undertaken by the firm, including the laying off of four property lawyers earlier this year.

As one Blake Dawson Firm Spy noted:

‘a climate of fear has swept through the office, no one knows who is next and no one knows if there is anything we can do to save our working futures… it is a bleak period in our working lives.’
