Clayton Utz Redundancies - The GFC Enters New Territory

Posted by The Spy | Posted in Clayton Utz, GFC Redundancies | Posted on 8.11pm

In a clear departure from its earlier representations, Clayton Utz has today made two second-year lawyers redundant

Congratulations! You are certifiably sacked!
from its private equity practice in Sydney.

Whereas mere weeks ago the Clutz managing partner foreshadowed that the GFC might not significantly affect the firm, today’s redundancies take the total lawyer redundancies to 9.

Clayton Utz managing partner David said in December last year:

‘It is a very unique environment but even out of periods of difficulty, opportunities arise and you have to be out there, nimble, looking for these opportunities.’

It would seem at this stage that Clayton Utz has been insufficiently ‘nimble’. Are you part of a dexterous firm? If so, send us your news!
