The Firm Spy can confirm that at least 115 Australian lawyers have taken leaves of absence fro
Lawyers returning. No vacancies.
The contractual entitlement possessed by these workers, coupled with the persisting concerns of most Australian law firms that workflows will ease in the months aheads, raises the question; what vacancy will these workers fill?
According to statistics obtained by the Firm Spy, the following major Australian law firms have lawyers who taken an unpaid leave of absence and have the right to re-claim their former job:
- Clayton Utz - 49
- Allens Arthur Robinson - 10
- Minter Ellison - 12
- Deacons - 12
- Blake Dawson - 18
- Corrs Chambers Westgarth - 14
Although we were unable to obtain figures from other firms, it is very likely that double-digit unpaid leave absentees are possessed of a contractual right to reclaim their Australian law-firm employment at each of the other top-10 firms.
Where will they go? Who will they push out? Is your job safe? Share you thoughts with the Firm Spy!
