GFC? What GFC?
Like Clayton Utz and Freehills in recent days, Henry Davis York has come out with comments which are either a calculated effort to allay lawyer employment fears, or a genuine indication that the firm is successfully swimming against the tide of global economic woes.
Henry Davis York managing partner Sharon Cook noted:
‘We are seeing a cascading effect of insolvency and restructuring work going through the firm, from M&A practitioners to our employment and property group in particular … as time goes on we will see more litigation, which will be a growth area in 2009. There will be more litigation associated with insolvencies and we are already seeing big class actions and prosecutions…’
Are the prospects of these firms an indication that the worst of the GFC is behind us? Send us your views!
