DLA Partner on “Rampage of Bullying”; Firm Advises on Defence Bullying Allegations, Blushes

A DLA partner gives a valuable life lesson to a client yesterday
Grab hold of your irony hats, folks, because this one’s a classic.  According to our DLA spy:

DLA Piper was recently named as the lawyers appointed by government to investigate bullying / harassment etc in the military. that is hugely ironic. There are major issues in the Brisbane office of DLA Piper with one partner having been on a personal rampage of bullying (specializing in DEFENCEless female staff) over the last few years. Multiple claims paid out and signed up to ’hush’ deeds. A number of more recent departures were most likely as a direct result of his behavior and treatment of women. His behavior and attitude towards partners and staff must have been a factor in so many partners and staff leaving to join another firm.

Bullying in a law firm?  Have you ever heard of such a thing?  We wonder if the fine chaps in the Defence Department would be so keen if they knew they were taking advice from a firm that can’t get its own house in order.  Then again, maybe you’d expect DLA has developed some “internal expertise” in dealing with these matters by now.

But hang on a minute – how will DLA even do the government work, now that it doesn’t have a Canberra office anymore?
