All is not good within the Business Services Team in Perth. In the last four months the Admin Manager, HR Manager, HR Advisor, HR Administrator, two IT Support technicians and the Knowledge centre manager have all resigned. Corrs are now on their 8th HR Manager in ten years. How has this impacted on senior management? Apparently it hasn’t as HR Director, Alexis Navie, was rewarded with an all expenses paid trip to INSEAD leadership school in France.
Perhaps the expensive but educational junket extremely important leadership experience was one last hoorah before she handed over the reigns to … Rachel Weir (of Bridgette Styles fame), who has joined Corrs Perth in a similar-sounding role:
Following on from your Family Farce post staff in Corrs Perth office might be interested in the fact that Corrs have recently hired as a HR Manager in Perth, the Rachel Weir HR Manager of Clutz’s Sydney office between January 2008 and November 2010 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/rachel-weir/8/443/688. She was named in the Financial Review in July as being involved in the termination of Bridgette Styles, but less well known is her involvement in the‘performance management’of a number of clutz Sydney staff, including one case in which a friend of mine told me that they were asked to sit out a rotation with no pay.
This was later corroborated by a second tipster – looks like someone’s making a clean break in WA. Let’s wish her luck, shall we? For those who don’t remember:
“Clayton Utz sued by ex-staffer” Marsha Jacobs, AFR, 2 July 2010: “Styles…says human resources director Rachel Weir refused to answer her questions about when she would be allowed to return to work and that Ms Weir told her that Mr Izzo was not suspended. A week later Ms Styles says that she was told the firm had investigated her complaint and determined that there was no sexual harassment. In the same conversation she says she was told there were issues with her performance.”
Finally, there’s this gem about a demerger and acquisition of an altogether different breed:
Interesting news from Corrs Perth, where [unnamed partner] recently announced that he was leaving his wife and three kids to move in with his Senior Associate. A celebratory dinner with the workplace relations team was also had.
How tasteful. And it seems all is not rosy in Sydney either:
If you think Sparke’s bleeding employment lawyers is bad, check out the amount of Corporate SAs Corrs has haemorrhaged over the past 24 months from the Sydney office.
Corrs spies – is there any truth to these rumours or are these spies way off base?

There is no such thing as “HR” in the big law firms. They are just an extension of the marketing departments, e.g their job is to place the firm in the best possible light at all times and at any cost. Their job is to protect the partners and to recruit new law grads into the pyramid scheme.
Ummm what about the SA/Partner hook up at Allens Sydney Litigation department that lead to the SA “leaving” the firm, the Partner sent to Singapore, and an email sent to all Allens’ partners that informed them of the said affair and a comments on how classy it was…
I would be interested to know how many SAs have left from Corrs Corporate Division (or anywhere in the firm), since the policy of “assertive organic growth” was announced as part of the 2015 strategy.
