Earlier this year we reported the alleged paparazzi frenzy caused at Minter Ellison when lawyer Eren Myers emerged as the reported legal counsel of disgraced alleged rapist footballer Andrew Lovett.
A similar episode is rumoured to have played out last week at Sydney firm Hicksons Lawyers, but this time by a lawyer (who should probably stick to their day-job).
We received the following comments from an anonymous Hicksons spy:
It seems the moonlighting at Hicksons continues. A Hicksons staff member is attempting a career as a paparazzi and took or attempted to take photos of Lara Bingle when visiting neighbouring lawyers Kennedys. Managing Partner John Markos had to send an email to all staff telling them off for this incident. He reminded staff of “one of our core values at Hicksons is respect … we expect our staff to act in a courteous and professional manner toward any person … taking photos … without their express permission is discourteous, disrespectful and highly inappropriate”.
Yes John, but it makes such excellent reading on the glossy colour pages of New Idea! The versatility of such colour-printing has apparently been the subject of a major employee spat at Hicksons, with the same anonymous spy quoted above (thanks for the excellent tip) also sending the following barb:
Dear Firm Spy
I thought you might like to know how tough the GFC has been at Sydney mid-tier Hicksons. The poor HR manager has to moonlight as an interior declorator and even has her own website. This might explain why the HR department is the only department at Hicksons that is allowed to print in colour on nice paper while everyone else has to use cheap paper in black and white print for such mundane and unimportant things like advices to clients.
More cuts to discretionary spend. But what if someone takes an illicit snap of Lara Bingle in the shower? Surely that calls for a colour-print rendering! Is your firm cutting costs?
