Dead Cats Dont Bounce; Minter Ellison Partner Simon Alroe Faces Allegations

As reported by Roll on Friday:

A partner Minter Ellison has apparently been arrested for allegedly harassing a colleague. Simon Alroe, a partner in the firm’s Brisbane office, was bailed by the local Magistrate’s Court last week. He was ordered to have no contact with Trent Forno, a fellow Minter Ellison partner, or with Forno’s family, and banned from visiting the firm’s offices.

It is unclear whether the allegations have anything to do with the following provocative comments appearing on Alroe’s Twitter account:

pain or damage or f&@ing beatings do not end the world. The world ends when you’re dead. Until then U have more punishment in store…

As well as being a respected lawyer, Alroe is also known for his playwrighting. The Slippery Slope and Dead Cats Dont Bounce are the titles of two of his better known plays. On the interplay between his profession and hobby, Alroe

it will take more than pain for my world to end!
profoundly noted:

there’s a lot of cross-over between the law and theatre – the ‘costumes’ worn by barristers and judges, the theatre of the court, conflict, debate and human stories – all play out in both the courts and the theatre. Being a lawyer teaches you to see and present both sides of an argument, how to research and to dig into someone’s character and story to get to the truth – all essential playwriting tools.

On the quality of his jokes:

Dead Cats is a comedy but it’s not laugh out loud.
