Probably the clearest validation of the economic prophesies of Mallesons Prognosticator Partner Robert Milliner emerged earlier this week from national competitor Minter Ellison.
But before we indulge you with what we regard as an unquestionably troubling economic omen, we should update you on the results of our most recent poll. In response to the question ‘Mallesons Chief Executive Partner Robert Milliner is’, we received the following answers :
- soon to be voluntarily redundant (23 votes);
- a leading Australian lawyer (7 votes);
- Australia’s foremost economist (7 votes);
- Gandalf the Grey (46 votes)
Yes, 55% of you think Robert Milliner’s economic forecasts makes him a corporate duplex of Gandalf the Grey! But before we hand out any more Firm Spy Partner Awards, we must consider the economic signals embedded in recent Minter Ellison poppycock.
The Daily reported the following on Tuesday, in an article profiling gifts received by Queensland state ministers:
Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten received perhaps the most interesting gift – a portrait of himself. The portrait and a Picasso-style painting, with a combined value of $500, were presented by Minter-Ellison Lawyers.
‘Oh Robert, you robust fellow, you ought to be rendered in paint and have your portaited lineaments passed as a Schwartzen heirloom from generation to generation. You have a most engaging appearance, Rob. Oh and Robert, can we help advise on the sale of the state’s coal assets ?’ [these are the Firm Spy's comments]
Yes, things cannot be good in the economy if Minter Ellison needs to resort to these bootlicking antics to win Ministerial support.
