‘Stalkernet’; Clayton Utz Intranet Casts New Light on Harassment Case

We reported last month the news that Joe Catanzariti, a  Clayton Utz partner and the head of the New South Wales Law Society and an apparent h9omophobe, was intimidating an ex-Clayton Utz lawyer who was attempting to serve documents on another Clutz lawyer.

Well, it seems that the courts are prepared to listen to what the ex-Clayton Utz lawyer, Michael Mitchell, has to say. We received the following tips from an excellent firm spy earlier today (thanks for your great work!):

the former Clayton Utz lawyer who alleges he was victimised and subjected to disability and sex discrimination during his time at the firm has won the right to pursue some of his claims before the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal. Mitchell v Clayton Utz & Ors [2009] NSWADT 266 (13 October 2009)… Like many firms, CU has a list of all lawyers in the firm on its intranet. Inside the firm that list is commonly referred to as ‘stalker net.’ For example, one employee might say to another ‘I don’t know him but I looked him up on stalker net..’ Puts an interesting spin on Michael Mitchell’s alleged ‘stalking.’
