After successive tragedies and gloom, it’s heartening to hear that at least some firms are giving their staff emergency leave to escape the floodwaters and defend their properties. Like this report we received this morning from an ex-PwC staffer. It looks like the firm has got its priorities straight in Brisbane:
I was chatting to staff about the Brissy floods. Being in the Brisbane CBD, near the water, they responded swiftly and sent staff home on emergency flood leave! Better than my (non chartered) firm did! Top work pwc!!
Is your firm affected by the flooding? Post their response in the comments.
The full extent of the damage unleashed by the floods is still unfolding, and the recovery process will be long. If you want to help, you may like to consider donating the Queensland flood appeal.

KPMG staff in Riparian Plaza were sent home around midday yesterday, the office will probably be closed for the rest of the week. They didn’t have much choice, based on flood predictions there’ll be half a metre or more of water in the foyer tomorrow, and the basement is already completely inundated.
Deloitte also evacuated all Brisbane office staff and sent them home on leave on full pay until at least Monday. They have also set up a crisis management team and are providing support to all staff. The Deloitte Foundation is matching donations made by staff to the appeal. This Deloitte support at this tragic time makes me proud to be a Deloittian!
Ernst & Young closed its Brisbane office on Tuesday.
Freehills also evacuated staff on Tuesday.
Tresscox have been extremely supportive of our circumstances, in daily contact with us including weekends, making sure we are all ok, paying us for the time off no questions asked, reimbursing leave for the period we have been affected by the floods if we were on annual leave and generally just being great.
The Brisbane offices of the top-tier firms are all closed in Brisbane this week due to building being inundated by flood waters
ey’s shut till the end of the month too… perils of having a riverfront address, i guess
At least they can hose out those marble foyers.

Seriously fs get your shit together! Ive been back at work for weeks and I need you to quench my gossip thirst!
Just backing-up what Matt Damon said.
Waiting …
Agree with Matt Damon, c’mon Firmspy, why so quiet!
Agree with Matt Damon. The best way to kill a blog/news site is to slow down updates. Two weeks without a piece is too long if FS is serious about keeping its audience. The Xmas/New Year break is a reason, but no excuse.
FS – Whatever happened to the rest of the remuneration survey results?
FS, if you need inspiration for a story then perhaps you should investigate Corrs Melbourne HR and the recent developments therein. Just putting it out there…
Well, somebody send them some gossip!
C’mon Firmspy, we miss you! Time to pull your finger out and give us some goss.
Who wants to join me in a lawsuit against Firmspy if it continues to fail to publish new posts in a timely and regular manner??
What’s the matter firmspy? flood got your tongue?
The broken promises of posting information at this site echo the broken promises of partners at big firms everywhere.
I think it’s a clue to their secret identity: FS editors are all Queensland-based!
And what John said – where are the rest of the remuneration survey results!?! Plus, it’d be great to see RoF-style yearly firm summaries (or ‘inside info’ as they call it).
