“FYI. New Clunge”; PwC Top 10 Female Rating Scandal Hits New Brand

A couple of weeks ago we published a report on PwC’s rebranding and how insiders at the firm consider that the firm’s new emblem evokes the image of a defecating butterfly. In fact, the contrast of a beautiful, colourful creature with a repulsive log of insect turd is, in light of the remarkable saga noted below, a more apt analogy than we first thought.

number 13 was very lucky

You see, an leaked email is currently doing the rounds (and landed in our inbox) in which dozens of PwC workers from the firm’s Irish office have ranked the hotness of new, young female associates of the firm. The Dublin office of the freshly rebranded PwC is currently investigating the leaked email, which contains the photos of 13 females, with the subject title “This would be my shortlist for the top 10″.

The email appears to have been forwarded to a series of male PwC staff members, before it went much more public. Some of the comments which were made by the various blokes forwarding the email include::

  • Great work …. have reservations about the last one getting in.
  • Lads a couple added ….
  • FYI. New clunge.

Here are a couple of the females in question:

So on the one hand you’ve got sharp, professional-looking businessmen, and on the other hand you’ve got a pack of dirtbags rating the new “clunge”. Dumping on the new brand indeed!

Of course, this isn’t the first “rating” scandal we’ve seen; last year Deloitte had a similar scandal, but it was the females rating the males:

In the email, entitled Deloitte First year analysts Christmas Awards, sent on December 8, Ms Leam-Taylor asked her female colleagues to vote on which men in the office they considered most attractive.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week we put a call out to our KPMG spies to get the full scoop on the iPhone 4 apparently being handed out to lowly auditors. Whilst we still haven’t heard anything to confound the story as reported by the AFR earlier in the week, we have received some interesting comments.

First this from an anonymous Deloitte spy:

Wow 3G cards for staff at KPMG! If only Deloitte was so kind. Only Seniors and above, and recently EA’s, have the privilege to such rewards.

Yes auditors @ deloitte do get sent out to clients without internet. Oh course you can always ask the Senior for their card, but we all know what they think when you do!

Luckily most clients supply internet, but if they dont I can always chew through my mobile phone data cap.

Ar yes, the GFC hangover continues. So much for being number 2, or was it 3? Or 1?

Then this from an anonymous PwC spy:

a PwC laptop

I wish PwC would get with the times and upgrade our technology. We are working on $1k laptops that never work and don’t get blackberrys (let alone iphones) until we reach senior manager level. So the people out at clients doing work have no access to email – good thinking management.

Perhaps the senior partners here should stop trying to pick up the young graduates and focus on the issues that are killing the firm…

And finally this from an anonymous KPMG spy who helpfully put the windfall in perspective:

Just another pathetic attempt to try to retain staff. A mere 9 months after leaving that dump and I am now earning 125% (that’s not a typo) more than those idiots were paying me. I can buy a few iphones with that.

Do you rate office-talent? Do you have an iPhone 4? Do you photograph office-talent on your iPhone 4?
