No Deloitte Redundancies as Pay Freeze is Announced

Another stupid climate metaphor surveys the Deloitte pay freeze yesterday
Unlike KPMG, Ernst & Young and PwC, which have made hundreds of workers redundant, Deloitte has so far managed to avoid any major sackings. Whether this is a result of charity from Deloitte management or strong continued workflows, the Firm Spy declines to speculate.

However, in light on PwC’s double-edged mega-sacking, followed with its calculated pay-freeze, the Firm Spy at least places Deloitte ahead of one of its major competitors on the generosity stakes!  Yet it is not all delight at Deloitte.

Today, Deloitte spokeswoman Vessa Playfair announced to the Australian Financial Review that a pay-freeze had been implemented. Ms Playfair took the opportunity to launch a veiled pot-shot at Deloitte’s competitors:

[Deloitte] has a very different approach to the others – they have been prepared to retrench and we haven’t.

Is the Deloitte pay-freeze fair play or was Vessa Playfair playing unfair?
